One of the best Gyokuro
Gyokuro Kagoshinai or “dew drop” is one of the best Gyokuro green teas, and
comes from the Uji region. This tea has a lively, fresh flavour and
a remarkable delicacy and roundness, due to the sophisticated
processing which only the Japanese are capable of achieving.
To make this
exceptional tea, the most tender buds have been selected by hand,
which is rare in Japan, then rolled very gently, one by one. An
interesting fact about this tea is that three weeks before harvest,
the planters cover the bushes to filter out the light, which makes
the leaves produce more chlorophyll. This technique gives the tea
its unique flavour and a lovely smooth, mellow texture.
